Family Holiday Photos! Yay!!
Everyone’s Christmas cards have gone out in the mail and should be delivered so I’ve been given the all clear!
I loved testing out my mini-studio for family holiday photos and they all seemed to love it as well!
Thank you again family! Love you!
And in other news…Sean proposed on 12/10 while we were getting our Christmas tree!!!! I couldn’t imagine a more perfect proposal! He had my friend Nichole distract me for a girls craft night so he could go talk to my parents, then the next day we got up early to go to the tree farm we went to our first year together. Our friends Nichole and Tony came with to get their tree as well. It was so cold but we trudged around the tree farm looking for the perfect tree. Sean kept moving us towards the back of the farm, trying to get to a less populated area. I found a tree I liked and said, I think this is the one, and he said are you sure? I looked away to look at nearby trees and when I looked back he was pulling a white ribbon out of his pocket. He said, “well to make sure we should see it with an ornament on it”. He swears it was forever but it took me about 5 seconds to get it. First, second and third second was why does he have a white ribbon? Fourth second was what is that gold?….Fifth second was OH MY GOD THAT IS MY RING!!!! And cue the tears! lol We had been ring shopping a few months prior and I’d fallen for this one of a kind estate ring from the late 1930′s. I had been hoping that he’d gone back to get it but he kept it a secret and very well hidden! hee hee Our friends were with us to get a tree but also to capture the moment. I messed up their plans by not bringing my camera…they just assumed I’d bring it cause I always have it with me! But their cell phone cameras captured such a special moment. Thank you guys!
And lastly here is our Christmas card picture! Can my fiance be cuter?
(that word is gonna take some getting used to! hee hee)
Happy Holidays!
Alright, I’m done with my shameless self promotion for awhile. lol I never mean to only promote my tiny fledgling lil photography business but lately its felt like that is all I’m doing. “If I post this will someone new notice me?” Eh, its the holidays and I’m looking forward to not thinking that way for a few weeks! Since I didn’t get any bookings for my last minute mini sessions I had time for holiday photos for my family instead! Yay! I can’t share pictures quite yet, I swore I wouldn’t share until their cards were sent out so check back next week! But I can share pictures I took of Sean and I while trying to get our xmas card shot. We were in Ashland for Thanksgiving with Sean’s family and we always visit Lithia Park when we go to Southern Oregon. It’s so beautiful, and every time we go I notice something new. It’s probably one of my favorite spots down there.
Taking our picture can be kinda frustrating. Half the time Sean has to hold the camera up and do the “angle” shot. You know the one… people do it on their facebook pages cause its a good angle to hide double chins photograph yourself. But that angle is so tired and we have a billion shots of us like that and with two heads squeezed in the shot it takes forever to get it just right. One, two, three and five my chin was cut off, four and six Sean had his eyes half closed. We’ll take 20+ shots this way and by shot 20 we are both tired and annoyed…and that’s in only a couple minutes. So when I was packing for the trip I remembered the remote! Yay! Woohoo! But I forgot the tripod. Lame! We tried a few locations in the park with the camera on a picnic table, on a rock, but the light was wrong and it wasn’t what I envisioned. Then we came upon this bridge and it all worked out!
Sure I had heart palpitations being that far from my camera with it perilously perched 8ft above the creek. Rocks! So many rocks! But I got through it and managed to smile in a few! Sean is such a good sport. I pulled out the Santa hat and reindeer ears and he was like “oh no!” But after a few shots in the Santa hat he warmed up to it and a few kisses helped as well.
Isn’t he cute!
{Thank you to Florabella for the free holiday damask frame templates available through her facebook page. Not sure if it is still available but if you “Like” Florabella you’ll know the next time she gives away a freebie!}

I’d planned to have my home photography studio set up around the first week of October but of course life got busy and I barely got that room organized and cleaned up before a lil xmas session last weekend. My cousin Lauri brought over my lil muse to take pictures for their family holiday card this year. We had a blast and Brody did so good! I’ve only got a few to share cause I don’t want to spoil their holiday cards!
How cute is he??
The studio worked great, I think I’ll have to limit it to just little ones cause my space is a little small but the light was just perfect!
Did you just blink and its almost December? Cause I did! Where did October and November go? If you’ve procrastinated on a family picture for the year and want to have custom photo cards to send out to friends and family sign up for one of six spots for my Last Minute Mini Sessions!
For $100 you get a 25min photography session for up to 4 people, 10-15 fully edited images to view on a password protected online gallery, 3 images of your choice formatted for social media sharing, and a box of 20 4×8 flat photo cards with envelopes. You pick the photo and the card design! (There are some pretty cute ones!) If you pick your fav picture and card by December 9th, your box of custom photo cards will arrive no later than Friday the 16th. USPS recommends that all letters be mailed by December 21st so that gives plenty of time to drop them in the mail! Whew! Just barely! Additional prints are available as well and if you’d prefer a 5×7 folded photo card design add $15 for a box of 25.
Shoot me an email at annawyffels@gmail.com if you have any questions or want to brainstorm for your mini shoot!
I didn’t get any comments from people looking for Newborn Portraits so I’ll just leave this as an open call.
If you know anyone having a baby before the end of 2011 send them my way!I loved the one newborn session I’ve done, but this type of photography is so different than anything else. In my other sessions I’m used to clicking away, taking several hundred pictures in a session but with newborns there is a lot of setup and wait. Pose and wait, feed and change and wait, and then after careful consideration *click*. I really loved it but there is so much more I want to try! I’m booked for a multiple in January so I really need the practice of posing one baby…let alone 3! Yipes! I’m sure it will go fantastic but if you know me, you know I like to KNOW that I can do it. And the only way I learn is by doing.
So if you have a coworker, family member, distant friend that lives in the Portland Metro Area I’d love to give them a free Newborn Portrait Session. Prints would be available for purchase through me with no minimum and just as a reminder here are my print prices, pretty affordable for professional prints!
4×6 $2.50 ea 5×7 $4.00 ea 8×10 $10.00 ea 8×12 $12.00 ea 11×14 $15.00 ea 4 wallets $2.50Thanks!

On Sunday I had my very first Newborn Portrait Session! I have to admit I was so nervous! I’ve not been around a ton of babies, I know how to hold them and to make shushing noises to soothe them but beyond that I’m a novice. The photos were for friends, their first baby, and what I was most nervous about was not messing up. I mean, I know its super hard to take a bad photo of a cute baby but I wanted better than just ok for them. They made a gorgeous baby girl, the least I could do was try to capture a tiny bit of that!
Here are a few of my favs of Baby C
She was such a good baby for putting up with me and my noisy shutter! The biggest thing I learned was that Newborn Photography is unlike any other kind of photography I’ve tried. I loved it and I want a chance to practice more but for the next few months I’m all out of friends, relatives and coworkers giving birth!
So here is the giveaway!
I’m giving away up to 5 free Newborn Portrait Sessions.
Here’s the details and fine print:
*Must live within 20 miles of Portland Oregon.
*Must be due before December 1st, 2011.
*Session will be in your home within first 7-10 days after delivery.
*Prints will be available for purchase but no minimum required.
*Winners will be picked on October 10th by random.org.
(unless there are less than 5, in which case all that comment before then will win!)Any questions? Shoot me an email at annawyffels@gmail.com
Leave a comment for a chance to win! Thanks!
Lensbaby posted a contest about 2 months ago for Senior Portraits taken with any Lensbaby lens. The submissions were accepted Sept. 1st and just closed this afternoon. I’d never tried a Lensbaby lens before but when I saw the contest I knew I had to rent one to try! I think I ended up with 3 pretty great images and luckily they allowed up to 3 to be submitted! These are the photos I entered, I used the Lensbaby Composer for Nikon.
Thank you again to Kiva and Jenna for being patient with me as I figured out this MANUAL lens and MANUAL aperture. Wow! I had no idea I relied so much on the speed of my camera before using this lens!
If you haven’t tried a Lensbaby I highly recommend renting to try it out! If you’d like to see all the other submissions (and there are some truly amazing pictures) click on the link below!
Have a great weekend!
